The first day the center opened, the demand was astonishing. Parents gathered in the early hours, holding their daughters’ hands, unable to fathom a free education. These parents had nothing themselves, earning less than $2/day and, performing menial, low-paying, and back breaking jobs just to survive. They were rickshaw pullers and servants, street sweepers and field laborers, people who society forgot.

However, in the darkness of that early morning, there was a glimmer of hope. They finally had an opportunity to give a gift to their own daughters that they couldn’t dream of for themselves… a brighter future.

The gift was JYOTI KIRAN.
